The cute little kitten that found me did have an owner after all. I’m way more upset about this than I ever thought I would be. Fuck I bonded with that little cat

There are so, so many kitties waiting in shelters to be adopted! Find your own, especially from a kill shelter, and save a life.

I'm sorry to hear that :/ The only logical step now is to go adopt a kitten.

How did you find the owners? Or how did they find you?

You are hooked now! Time to hit up a shelter and adopt one of your own.

As others have said. It’s shelter time.

Right in the feels...I know the feeling man! Our neighbours abandoned a bunch of cats when their house was foreclosed on (they are really sketchy people...) and we trapped and sent as many as we could off as farm cats (most of them had been outside for so long they were semi-feral and not tamable as house cats [there are ONLY no-kill shelters here though!). The last cat, which survived that terrible winter my Canadian province of Nova Scotia had last year all by itself, alone outside, had kittens in last spring (3 kittens that we know of). We managed to trap momma and spay her and send her as a farm cat so she’d have a good life, but there was no guarantee we’d trap the kittens (you can’t exactly choose which walk into your traps and they are all way too skittish when feral to come anywhere near you).

ONE kitten found her way back to the trap by herself after we trapped momma for food and we managed to trap her...sadly we never saw the other two kittens again (many sads...). The local shelter wouldn’t take this kitten as it was also semi-feral and on the cusp of the age (12 weeks old) where feral cats become almost impossible to tame. They said....do you mind fostering her for awhile to see if you can bring her around enough to be homed...? We accepted, had her spayed, checked out by the vet and kept her in a dog kennel in the house, trying to acclimatize her to people for months...slowly trying to pet her, feed her by hand, get her used to being handled and petted...

I’ll never forget the day I petted her for the first time without her shying away, or the day she first came into my lap to eat from my hand - very rewarding knowing we had helped tame her from the wild. We decided to keep her in the end and Tazz has been with us since August of last year now. She’s currently in sleeping on top of my mother at the moment. She’s not as lovey-cuddly as most domestic cats as she was born wild, but she’s still way more loving than we ever had hope she would ever be considering her circumstances. Wouldn’t trade her for the world! :)

By all means, go to a local shelter if you can and give a deserving little friend a home and a new life.. Most shelters do the best they can to care for the critters in their care, but cage life with periodic playpens isn’t the same as roaming around their new owners digs on a kitty whim....find your own furry buddy and you’ll definitely brighten up your life! :) We never had pets growing up and I always loved cats and dogs, but now that we have our own, I would do the exact same thing again a million times over!

Sorry for the novel, haha, but it’s a cause near and dear to my heart after all we went through with those poor cats next door that were left to fend for themselves...

Daawwww!!! Kittay!

Our cat was found as a 1-pound kitten by a friend of a friend stuck in an abandoned car in a farm field. Our daughter was 7 months old at the time, so we took her over to meet the cat. We put her down in her car seat, and he went right over to check her out. They’ve been best buds ever since. Hammer is such a sweet cat, and very patient with his now 3-year old best friend :)

Haha, cute! Cats seem to have a thing for boxes! :P

Ours’ latest fascination is making us lift her to the kitchen window so she can lay in our arms and watch things like blowing leaves and snowflakes, haha!

Yes they do!

Hammer loves when the weather is right to leave our kitchen window open, and he gets to sit on the open window sill. We also have an enclosed front porch he loves to spend time on. If the weather is nice, he sometimes likes to spend the whole night out there.
